Walnuts!

If you are looking for a good snack throughout the course of the day, think about consuming that lovely edible seed called the walnut.  Scientist determined that walnuts have a combination of more healthful antioxidants and higher quality antioxidants than any other nut. Antioxidants in walnuts were determined to be 2-15 times as potent as vitamin E.  Antioxidants protect the body against damaging natural chemicals involved in causing disease.

Other benefits associated with walnuts:

  • -Increase fat oxidation and reduce carbohydrate oxidation
  • -May help older individuals improve performance on tasks that require motor and behavioral skills
  • -Decrease risk of heart disease, certain kinds of cancer, gallstones, and Type 2 diabetes.
  • -Improves reaction to stress; reduces blood pressure during stress

Remember a handful!!! 9-12 nuts per serving.
